Audemars Piguet unveils the new 18-karat yellow gold (case and bracelet) Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch — just in time for the holidays. Yes, it had recently released the timepiece in rose and white gold, but this 18-karat yellow gold version is an eye catcher.
This 41mm rendition is a work of art, balance and technology. It offers astronomical moon indication so precise that it will not need an adjustment for 125 years and 317 days. The 374-part caliber 5134 is also ultra-flat with a 4.31mm thickness – making it ideal for wearing with a suit. In addition to the days, date, months and leap years, it tracks and displays the weeks of the year — indicated on an outer chapter ring for those who need to refer to week numbers instead of dates. The watch is a nod to the original 1984 Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar collection, of which 229 of the 279 pieces made were cased in yellow gold.
