Platinum F.P. Journe Tourbillon Souverain men’s watch with gold movement, 40mm case, remontoire (constant force device), independent dead beat seconds system and on a black crocodile strap with an ardillon buckle.
Francois-Paul Journe’s very first watch was actually a pocket watch tourbillon, and when creating his first wristwatch tourbillon—in his typical style—he chose to do it in a completely different way from anyone else. Tourbillon Souverain was the first watch to combine a tourbillon regulator with a remontiore, or constant force device. The remontiore consists of a blade spring that is loaded and discharges once per second, thus supplying the tourbillon with a consistent level of power no matter the state of wind in the barrel. The once-per-second beat of the remontiore assisted Journe in adapting the watch to a dead-seconds display in later models.
