To commemorate the G-Shock's 40th Anniversary, Casio collaborated with Sadanobu Gasson, one of Japan's premiere swordsmiths to create a unique timepiece using traditional Japanese techniques. Rasp mark patterns that are typically applied to the tang of a Japanese sword blade can be seen on the center links of the watch bracelet, along with the inscriptions “鍛” and “錬” which identify the craftsman and symbolize the Gassan family's devotion to sword forging. The recrystallized hybrid titanium bezel expresses the family's signature ayasugi-hada pattern of rolling waves, while the dial displays the traditional diamond-shaped hishimaki-gara pattern, which is often seen on Japanese sword handles. Blending old with new, this watch has Solar-powered timekeeping with Bluetooth® and radio control for enhanced accuracy and reliability. This version of the MR-G embodies a deep passion for craftsmanship while fusing tradition with innovation. Limited to 500 pieces worldwide.
