MB&F Moves From Jellyfish to Octopus
You may recall a few months ago we brought you news of the all-new MB&F HM7 Aquapod watch, nicknamed Jellyfish. That watch, which made its debut at SIHH in January, features a center tourbillon surrounded by two rings, one each to indicate the hours and the minutes. The watch is equipped with bright blue Super-LumiNova for easy reading. Additionally, the rounded top of the watch, along with the luminescence recalls the shape and feel of jellyfish.
Now, MB&F unveils an octopus-inspired limited-edition desk clock made in conjunction with L'Epee 1839. The Octopod table clock has eight articulate legs that can be adjusted to different heights. The clock features a transparent "octopus-like" head that is "gimballed" or attached via a single axis to the body so that it moves and rotates. The Octopod's clockwork mechanism is suspended inside its sphere and looks to be floating. The 159-part manual wind movement is an eight-day caliber developed by L'Epee 1839.
The Octopod is built of stainless steel, nickel and palladium-plated brass. The body (including the legs and head) of the Octopod consists of 309 parts. This unusual work of horology is created in just three variations with 50 pieces of each being built: black PVD, blue PVD and palladium.
