Stephen Silver is a gemologist, geologist, diamonteer, philanthropist, and Chairman of S. H. Silver Company, Silicon Valley’s premier jewelry house and timepiece salon.

Stephen Silver has established an international reputation amongst elite collectors for his business acumen and expertise in diamond and color gemstone cutting, jewelry design, estate jewelry, and fine timepieces.

He studied geology at San Diego State University and gemology at the Gemological Institute of America and went on to hone his craft in L.A. working with a retail estate jeweler specialized in antiques and precious stones. This is where Silver discovered his passion for early 19th century to mid-20th century estate jewelry, particularly, its emphasis on artistry and craftsmanship.

He went on to establish S.H. Silver Company in 1980, a wholesale company specialized in antiques, precious stones, and appraisals, servicing law firms, financial planners, courts, and estates. The business continued to evolve, and Silver expanded his custom jewelry and jewelry restoration divisions and began designing and producing high jewelry and fine jewelry pieces under the Stephen Silver brand, manufacturing each to the high standards of old-world craftsmanship he had come to appreciate – but designed with a contemporary audience in mind.

Over the years, Stephen Silver has gained access to a number of history’s most important colored gems. Mr. Silver is widely recognized for his donation of the storied “Cullinan Blue Diamond Necklace” to The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. He has also overseen the recut and improvement of countless important color gemstones, including blockbuster precious stones including the famed “Pink Promise” diamond, a 14.93 carat Vivid Pink diamond sold for over $32 million USD in 2017.

Under Stephen’s leadership and that of his son and company president Jared Silver, Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry continues to flourish and expand – now a vertically integrated wholesale manufacture and retail operation of international reach, headquartered at The Villa Menlo Park in Menlo Park, California.

Beyond his renown as a gemstone and jewelry expert, Stephen is also recognized in Silicon Valley as a leading philanthropist, having donated millions in recent years to causes in his community.

Jared Silver, President of Stephen Silver, grew up in the business and has transformed the company into Silicon Valley’s premier luxury retail and watch destination. A board member since 2012, Jared led the company’s evolution from a successful wholesale business to a vertically integrated retail powerhouse. He spearheaded the creation of the company’s Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel boutique, a 10x expansion of the company’s retail footprint. The flagship boutique opened in 2014, solidifying its status as a leading independent watch and jewelry destination.

Appointed President of Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry in 2018, Jared guided the development of The Villa Menlo Park, a landmark 3-story 35,000 sq. ft. mixed-use destination featuring dining by Michelin-recognized chefs, seven mono-brand watch and jewelry boutiques, a new flagship Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry ground floor boutique, high-jewelry salon, penthouse-style showroom and private social club, and Stephen Silver’s global headquarters. The Villa reflects the Silver's vision to create a space where Silicon Valley patrons can explore, connect, and celebrate life’s shared passions.

Jared is a recognized thought leader in luxury retail, horology, and fine jewelry categories, frequently appearing as a panelist and commentator. He oversees the family’s philanthropic efforts, and has served on the V Foundation Wine Celebration board since 2019, where he has helped raise over $50 million. He also joined the Alumni Board of Menlo School, his alma mater, in 2020.

Prior to joining Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry full-time, Jared worked for EY’s Global Strategy and Innovation practice, where he consulted Fortune 500 companies. He graduated from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Philosophy.
