Timely Updates

New Timepieces Arriving in Store

Ever since we launched our timepiece salon, Stephen and Jared Silver have carefully curated an unparalleled assortment of innovative timepieces. From prominent independent watchmakers like Louis Erard to heritage brands like BVLGARI and Arnold & Son, here are a few of the latest horological novelties newly arrived or coming to the Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry boutique at Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, California.

Warm Tones Shine in Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo

Some of our favorite incarnations of Bulgari’s famously thin Octo Finissimo line of watches are the new brown on gold colorways that have been recently introduced. These watches exude a warm, elegant style, while the weight of gold presents an interesting contrast to the pared-down design of the watch. It is eminently wearable.

Most notable in our cases is a special edition for the American market: an automatic in yellow gold on a bracelet. Like the original in titanium, the gold bracelet is composed of finely crafted angular links that give it a suppleness as well as a bold design flavor. A brushed finish gives the piece a nicely muted touch of elegance.

Bulgari will now create these bracelets for existing models upon request, so if you fancy the rose gold chronograph on a strap we have in stock, you can complete the look with a matching bracelet.

Horological Fireworks in Arnold & Son’s Nebula

One of our most recent new arrivals is Arnold & Son’s Nebula, recently released in rose gold with a variety of anthracite grey coatings to enhance the sense of depth on its open worked movement. This particular model shows off the incredible dexterity with movement architecture of which the brand is capable. Viewed from the dial side, multiple inward-facing bridges hold the various components in place, giving the impression of a starburst. The major components, including balance wheel, subsidiary seconds assembly, gear train and twin barrels are also symmetrically placed, and can be admired to a greater degree from the rear side.

While the visual effect is stunning, Nebula is about far more than aesthetics. The ability to freely position components, or mount them from singly supported bridges betrays the long experience at Arnold & Son’s headquarters, which has been building movements for decades. Architectural freedom is only possible when the manufacture has complete confidence in the reliability and consistency of its constructions—a quality Arnold & Son apparently has in spades.

A Springtime Color Explosion from Louis Erard

If you are considering adding a flourish of color to your wardrobe this spring, may we suggest one of these striking examples of the La Petite Seconde collection from Louis Erard? These watches pair a matching dial and strap combination in midnight blue, a deep violet and ice blue. The company has gone to great lengths to ensure deep, lustrous colors on its dials, which is a specialty art in watchmaking. The 39 mm case of La Petite Seconde is perfectly proportioned and is equipped with an automatic movement.

Look for more wristwatch updates from Stephen Silver as we look to the spring Watches and Wonders Geneva event, which has become a pivotal global launchpad for leading watch brands and independent watchmakers like MB&F, Urwerk, Angelus, and more to reveal their latest crop of new timepieces.

Many of the new horological designs are coming soon to Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry in Silicon Valley – and some are already available for hands-on experiences.
