The Arnold & Son DSTB stands for Dial-Side True Beat, as it reveals its true beat seconds mechanism on the dial. Under the openwork and finely chamfered gold bridges, its characteristic anchor powers a seconds hand at a broad rhythm, jumping from second to second. The design needed to be displayed in a way that reflects its historic importance for Arnold & Son. Placing it on the side of the dial created an additional level in the calibre, requiring three dedicated bridges fashioned in line with the A&S aesthetic, while the anchor shaped counterpoise catches the eye and is reminiscent of marine chronometers.
