Created to break the sound barrier inspired by watchmaking’s past and the possibility of moving musical timekeeping into the future, the Blast Hourstriker wants you to hear time, not read it. The mechanics that make the watch’s sound are visible on the hour and half hour. Driven by a specially dedicated barrel, the mechanism is triggered, and the hour rack and the inertia regulator start to turn. The hammers then hit the gong whose shape has been subtly worked to bypass the cage of the flying tourbillon. To ensure that the Blast Hourstriker’s striking mechanism acoustic reaches the best quality/sound performance ratio, this movement incorporates a high-tech titanium membrane first developed in the Classico Phantom Timepiece in collaboration with Devialet – the French audio technology company with whom one of whose co-founders is a direct descendant of the Ulysse Nardin family. With an 18 karat rose gold case and black DLC titanium bezel, the Hourstriker comes on a black rubber strap, has a 60 hour power reserve, and is water resistant to 30 meters.
