Powered by the three-dimensional HM3 engine with its Sowind oscillator and gear train and designed by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, the HM3 MegaWind features a giant “battle ax” rotor as its focal point. Flipping the movement upside down places the rotor and regulator on the dial side, made possible by to the two large ceramic bearings visible through the display back. The cones displaying the hours and minutes are machined from solid blocks of aluminum for optimal strength to weight ratio, and reduce the energy requirements to an absolute minimum.
