The development of the e-Crown with the Type 2 came down to the idea of being able to rely on a watch as much as we rely on our phones. An app on your phone can allow you to set the time, but is not dependent on that alone. The e-Crown automatically sets and adjusts to the correct time when needed, is activated by tapping the crystal on the dial, and can register two time zones.
