Check Out Our Picks for the Three Best Ulysse Nardin Marine Watches of 2016

Annena Sorenson

It's a great time to take a look at the best-selling watches of the year and maybe put one or two of them on your holiday shopping list. Today, we take a look at three of the most coveted Ulysse Nardin marine watches of the 2016. While some of these were introduced back in March at Baselworld, they didn't make their way to retail stores until the fall — so they are still super fresh and sought after.

Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon

Ulysse Nardin is renowned for its Marine line of watches. The brand has been synonymous with the ocean and chronometers since its founding, and so the Marine line is one of its most popular collections. This year, the brand took that collection to all new heights with the world's first Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon high-precision watch with ship-inspired dial. Crafted of wood, the dial features a “boom” pulled by nano-wires that replicate a ship's mast. The patented boom indicates the minutes, and when the boom reaches “60″ minutes, it returns to “0” to begin the minute count again. The watch also features a 60-second flying tourbillon escapement at 6:00 and “jumping” hours. The complicated in-house-made manual-wind movement, UN-630, consists of 469 parts.

Marine Diver Artemis Racing

Inspired by the six teams racing in AC45F catamarans with high-tech hydrofoils that lift the boat right out of the water as they compete in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series races, Ulysse Nardin again evoked the spirit of its Marine line. The new watch honors the Swedish team, Artemis Racing, which the brand sponsors. The 44mm watch is equipped with a unidirectional bezel and is water resistant to 300 meters. It is powered by the automatic UN-26 movement and is crafted in blue and yellow Artemis Team colors.

Marine Chronograph

Updating its sophisticated Marine Chronograph collection, this year Ulysse Nardin added the annual calendar — a highly useful small complication. Incredibly easy to use, the watch is powered by the UN-153 in-house-made caliber with cilium balance spring. It features a ribbed bezel and a screw-in crown ensuring the 43mm watch is water resistant to 100 meters.

Of course these watches just represent one key collection in the Ulysse Nardin lineup. We suggest you stop in any time to see the full selection.
